Riverside Tennis Club enters a variety of teams in the Wiltshire National Club League. These matches consist singles and doubles matches (apart from mini-red where they play only singles).

Mihaly’s first full year as a coach at Riverside has been packed with successes!

Our mini-tennis players have made some great progress. Our mini-red team of Josh & Sophie Butts, Charlie Webster, George Grant & Timothy Hanss won their division in the Wiltshire NCL and George Grant performed really well to be runner-up in the County Closed Mini Red competition; over Christmas Ben Howgrave-Graham was also runner-up in the Riverside Open competition. The mini-red players have now moved up to mini-orange and have had a great deal of success in local tournaments including wins for Josh, Charlie, George and Timothy.

Our older juniors also did well in division 1 of the Wiltshire NCL with the Under 14 Boys winning and the Under 12 boys being runners-up. This summer we are entering seven junior teams – please could you let Carolyn know on 01722 501557 if you would be willing to help organise these.

Our junior “player of the year” was awarded to Michael who won the club’s Men’s Singles, Doubles and Mixed titles, helped the Wiltshire Boys’ Under 14 team to reach the national finals of their County Cup, reached the national final of the Road to Wimbledon, won the County Doubles 14 & Under title and was runner-up in the Boys’ Under 16 singles final.

There were also many successes in local tournaments. Sam won at Pewsey, Jamie just missed out on the Under 12 County Title 11-9 in a deciding tie-break and won at the Salisbury Open & Riverside/Victoria Park Tournament, Abigail reached the semi-finals at the County Road To Wimbledon Final & Alex was runner-up in a Grade 5 competition at Victoria Park.

The club is great at including juniors in adult matches which leads to great improvements in their play. Those who have competed this year include Sam, Harry, Michael, Jamie, Abigail, Kendra, Beth, Will, Tom, Sam, James & Alex.

We are delighted with these results!
